When it comes to certain interior features, many are willing to spend thousands of dollars above the price of the home to have them included. At least 60% of buyers said they would be willing to pay more for central air conditioning, new kitchen appliances and a walk-in closet in the master bedroom if they did not already have these features.
Many of the features homeowners desire involve the kitchen. They include stainless steel appliances and a kitchen island. The kitchen is a major focal point for home buyers, said Errol Samuelson, president of Realtor.com.
Commentary from Bob Karp, Karp Properties LLC: Not a lot of surprises in this list. A/C is always the most desired and we know that here in Sierra Vista Arizona area. Older houses with EVAP cooling systems are more difficult to sell at top prices. A don’t necessarily agree with the hardwood floors. There are so many different types of hardwood floors, and many don’t do well in our desert heat. But most of the rest of the list makes sense from what we are hearing. Stainless appliances are still very popular and for some reason that eludes me personally, granite counter tops in the kitchen. But always think about location and your lifestyle rather than features when making your decision to purchase a home.
